TOPIC: Paragon Premium Cannabis – Plant Material for Vaporization Packaging not Certified as Child-Resistant

TYPE: Class II Product Recall: A class II recall indicates there is a remote probability of experiencing adverse health consequences from consuming the product.

ISSUE: The Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) is issuing a product recall on batches of plant material harvested by the cultivator Paragon Development Group, LLC (“Paragon”), license CCC000039-00 (previously MMCPC00003). A customer who purchased the product at a dispensary alerted the DCC that the affected packaging did not appear to be child resistant. Upon review, the DCC confirmed that the cultivator is not able to produce documentation certifying the packaging is compliant with 16 CFR 1700.

The affected products are specific to those sold in a mylar-style bag. Please see Appendix A for a visual example.

A product recall was determined to be the most appropriate course of action, as a child accessing the product could result in adverse health consequences. No adverse events have been reported. Anyone who experiences adverse health effects after consuming the affected product should contact their health care provider immediately and report the event to the DCC at 1-833-464-6627.

The DCC recommends that non-medical consumers and medical marijuana patients either securely store the product in a child-resistant package that is out of the reach of children or return it to the dispensary of purchase for a refund.

The DCC will provide any updates as necessary.
