Ohio Potency Testing Update

The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) has announced a change to how cannabis potency is tested and reported. As a result, consumers may notice that THC or CBD percentages listed on product labels appear slightly lower than in the past. Don’t worry: this does not mean the quality or effectiveness of your product has changed.

On April 21, 2025, all licensed cannabis testing labs in Ohio followed updated protocols that report cannabinoid and terpene content “as received” rather than “on a dry weight basis.”

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

This change only applies to plant material tested on or after April 21, 2025.
Potency percentages may appear lower on packaging due to the new testing method.
The actual product strength and quality remain the same.
This change ensures products are tested and labeled in a more standardized and
consumer-friendly way.
